Today is my baby' s birthday and it is filled with a lot of emotions. I didn't realize just how tough it was going to be today. I wish she was here so we could celebrate with her. We sent a care package in hopes that she would receive a few presents to celebrate with her foster family. We included the pics above to show her that we were celebrating her birthday too. I know that luckily she doesn't "miss" anyone right now, but oh how I miss her :(

I know this heartache so well. Try to smile today and think that Shelby will probably be in your arms within the next 8 weeks. We love you all.
I can so totally relate to your heartache! We missed Gianna's first birthday too, and here are a few silly thoughts that helped me get through the day:
~This is the last birthday her foster family will ever have with her. You get all the rest, and I bet they are really cherishing these last moments with her.
~It is the VERY LAST birthday she will ever miss with her family.
~And, as you are waking, she is going to bed, so she is always asleep while you are missing her. That helped me somehow.
We had a cake and sang(I cried through the whole song!) and we video taped it so she would know we celebrated with her.
Hang in there- it will not be much longer and you will be holding her in your arms!

Shelby is precious- and I can only imagine today is especially difficult. I know how hard the wait can be and how many special moments you want to share with her. These slide shows and celebrations are wonderful and I truly believe our children somehow can feel this love even across an Ocean at the farthest point from us. She will know you - and feel your family even far away. Hang in there - we are all praying for you.

Happy Birthday Shelby! I know that today was(is) hard - we missed Danielle's 1st birthday and that KILLED me! But like you, we celebrated so that we can share it with her in some way. It also made me feel a part of her birthday by sending a cake to her foster family. But like everyone said, this is the last birthday (and hopefully last holiday) that you will be apart. Soon we will be going to get our girls - and I can't wait. We will have to have our own double celebration in Nanning together - our Gotcha Day!!! Soon...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHELBY BABY!!!!! Funny how you are going to have a daughter that has a birthday in September just like me and one day apart even!!! Another thing that we have in common. Very funny!
