As wonderful and rosy everything sounds about getting this amazing little treasure is, there are a few other things that not everyone realizes. The fact still remains that my daughter has spent her lifetime living in "less than ideal" conditions. Her little bottom is completely blistered from having to sit in her own urine and feces for whoever knows how long :( Here is a picture of what her whole bottom looks like all over. She scratches it in her sleep as well, so we wake up to a bloody diaper-so so sad to see her in this pain. I have tried Nystatin, baby powder, and other lotions I have. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.
She also has a couple spots of ringworm still active on her legs. She has numerous scars of where other ringworm infections have healed on her body. I am treating them with Nystatin as well and that seems to be working.
Elise was not attached at all to the ladies that brought her to us from the orphanage. Even when she saw them the next day, she did not appear to even recognize them. This tells me that she is very used to be cared for by numerous people, and I don't think she has ever had a healthy attachment. Happily today though, she did cry for me a couple of times when she got scared of the loud music, or when I would walk away from the stroller. That is a good sign and I am thrilled to see her "trusting" me more and more each day. I pray she will attach and soon realize that we will be here for her forever and LOVE her everyday!!

Not sure if you have it but we at the hospital mix corn starch and vaseline for rashes that are open!
Thanks for your honesty
Oh my, tears for your little girl. I'm so happy she has a mommy to take care of her now.
If you can find some liquid Mylanta and spread it on her bum, it is very soothing and healing. Also, many of the little stores have a pharmacy that you can get special medicine. Just have your guide translate what you need. If you can't find something in Nanchang, ask Ann in Guangzhou as I am sure she will have something up her sleeve :). Love and miss you
If you brought oral antibiotics you could try those. I will email my pediatrician friend and ask for you.Praying for you all. Amy
Pool lamby! Looks so sore!!
I've recently read on RQ about something called BioOil that some have found very useful. She found it at Walgreens in the US. Not sure if it's available in China.
Poor little thing. Claire had/has those same horrible blisters, scars. We tried all sorts of different lotions and ointments. I shook all over when I took her diaper off for the first time.
Sorry that I don't have a specific remedy. :(
Talked to pediatrician and she said it is probably a yeast based so you need an antifungal-Nystatin good or Lotrimen AF but antibiotics will make worse if not a bacterial. I will email you too. Amy
Absolutely, though you may not be able to get the product in China-use bag balm on her. She will be healed within two days. I guarantee it. Also let her run around naked as much as possible, or even in a cloth diaper so that it falls away from her body when it gets wet and lets air in but still catches the "big stuff".

P.S.
Here's a link for Bag Balm: http://www.bagbalm.com/where-to-buy.htm
I use it on splinters. You know how awful it is to dig a splinter out of a child's hand or feet? Bag Balm and a bandage, and within a couple of days it has drawn the splinter and all infection out of the wound so that it's resting on top of fresh skin. Amazing stuff, really!
Love the Mylanta idea from Kim. A pediatrician at Scottish Rite made his own formula that when can get a prescription for. His formula involves lots of Mylanta for the same reasons Kim said
Hey Donna -- thank you for the reminder of how "real life" can be for these little kids. It's easy to forget, since it's not so pleasant, but we ALL need to remember... Thanks for ALL you do for so many of these kids...
What a yucky thing for her! SO thankful she now has a precious mommy to take care of everything from her hand, to her heart, to her bottom!!! God bless you as you nurse her to complete health!!!
XO
oh goodness Donna I know that hurts her. I would let her go naked with wearing a dress that would be easy and let her little bottom breath. bless her heart! She is ADORABLE and so good to see you together! :)
Lots of naked time and baking soda baths. Once you get home, I love california baby rash cream, it has an anti fungal in it.
Whoa! That looks horrible! I guess I was spoiled with Parkie. I hope that you have access to some of the suggestions friends have offered. Poor sweetie! And I'm with Cupcakes and Hairbows... Thanks for all you do for these babies!
Elise is such an adorable litlle girl. Big cheecks to kiss , yummy !
I'm sure the scars must hurt. I don't know if you'll find it in China but you might wanna get some aloe vera pure gel and / or rosa musqua oil. Both work very well on skin problems. Hope it works for Elise real fast. The girls look so happy togethe already .. just like sister should. And wait for the boys to join them. So much fun ahead. Very happy to see all is going well for you.
You really are a beautiful family.
Enjoy your time in CHina.

Kathie in NY
I pray for her bottom and Muffy will too tomorrow, watch that healing!
Aquafor (it keeps liquids out) is a great cream for diaper troubles, burns, scratches, bites, etc.
A raised , bumpy rash usually is yeast--you can use some of the nystatin powder on it too. Don't use baby wipes to clean (they contain alcohol and make it worse. See if you can find mineral oil and cotton balls to clean her bottom. For open breakdown/bleeding we use Sensicare or Ilex cream. You may not find those in china, but use whatever will make a thick barrier-apply thick like you're icing a cake. When you clean with the mineral oil only take off the soiled layer then reapply more on. Clean down to the skin once daily with the mineral oil---NO baby wipes.
That looks bacterial to me.....if you have oral antibiotics start them......keep up with the Nystatin as well and if you have add a hydrocortisone cream....start Bacitracin if you can't access oral antibiotics...use all 3...antibiotic (oral or ointment) and anti-fungal (Nystatin) and anti-inflammatory (hydrocortisone)......good luck!
Miconazole Nitrate for yeast and fungus and she should wear Huggies.
I'm a gran who has ever seen this.
