I was just blog hopping and got a good dose of reality from this recent Gotcha day video. I encourage you to hop on over there and check it out. This little one is exactly the same age as Elise will be when we get her- 20 months old. As you can see, not a whole lot of sunshine and butterflies are flying around on the day that your child's world is turned upside down :(
First Half Of November (Including Briana Update)

What a roller coaster November has been so far. Ups and downs and all

Rips my heart out and I can't watch it. SJ was the same way~ she cried through the whole thing and after... SO sad. I cried too!!! A VERY tough day for everyone especially that little precious baby!!!
XO
I have been following her blog too. I had my husband watch part of the video so he could understand too. Then, we watched the ending too, much happier.
Been there. A day later was a world of difference for LL at 26 months. You will sense what she needs. And lots of us will be with you in spirit that day!
Hugs,
Trena
I'm Amelie's father. She is doing awesome now and is as happy as can be. We were fully prepared that she might react that way on gotcha day, but it is still an emotional challenge to go through at the time.
It is worth noting, however, that every child is different. There were two other children adopted at the same time, in the same room. One was just a little older than Amelie and he did fine...playing with the toys they brought and no wailing like her.
Amelie had a VERY difficult time the first week, especially with me. But by the end of the trip about a week and a half later she was fine...even with me. Now, almost a month later she couldn't be happier.
Our first daughter was a completely different experience. She didn't cry at all and adjusted almost instantly to us. It really was a "rainbows and butterflies" experience, while most of the other eight children in the room (all the same age as her) screamed their heads off.
There is really no way to predict what will happen.
Good luck to you,
Mike
